Walking Holidays Sud Canigo – Pyrenees Orientales

Day 1 Welcome at the end of the afternoon in Céret by a member of our team on site, parking of your vehicles in a public parking. Transport to Prats de Mollo la Preste and check in at the hotel. Wwe will give you your roadbook, and will give you all the detailed information about your stay. For those who wish to take the GPS option, a training in its use will be dispensed to you. You will have the possibility to take advantage of Prats de Mollo, millennial city fortified by Vauban, its picturesque streets climbing the mountain, its Fort Lagarde overlooking the valley and its XVII century church decorated by Sugner Baroque altarpieces. Installation, dinner and night at the hotel.

Note: this hike is optional, you also have the opportunity to begin your itinerant stay directly by the stage of the 3rd day. It allows you, after discovering the city, to walk on the border ridges of Haut-Vallespir.

Day 2 Walking to the Mir Tour. The “Torre del Mir” is a 13th century Signal Tower located on a belvedere, overlooking the Royal City of Prats de Mollo la Preste and the Valley Tech, it offers a breathtaking view over the plain of Roussillon, to the french sea side and the spanish plains of Garrotxa and Emporda. You will also discover nearby an old bear trap. The Bear, former lord and master of the place who once terrorized shepherds and peasants, has disappeared but left great traces in the mountain culture of this hinterland, which for centuries celebrates his return in February during the Carnival Festivities. Return to the Hotel, dinner and overnight (12.4 km – 5 hours of walk, altitude difference +: 968 m – maximum altitude 1515 m / alt)

Day 3 Walking from Banyuls sur Mer to Portbou (Spain). Hiking at “mountain jumps” in the direction of the ruins of the Tower of Carroig. You will cross the beautiful vineyards of Banyuls sur Mer with its dry stone walls and its impressive device evacuation of rainwaters.
By a rocky path crisscrossed by scree, you’ll arrive at the Rumpissa Col (538 m). Border post No. 597.
After climbing, you’ll arrive at Querroig tower (670 m). A unique panorama takes place under your eyes, the far-away Canigou Peak which tears the azure Cap Creus which plunges into the sea.
The dry stone wall of a castle from the 10th century and the tower of the 14th are the ruins of the Treaty of the Pyrenees (1659). Descent to the typical Spanish town of Port Bou. Night in hotel (14 km, 6h00, +742 m.).

Day 4 Walking from Portbou to Llança. You’ll take the Mediterranean GR 92. A beautiful route through Catalonia towards Valencia by the Mediterranean coast.
Passage to the tourist village of Colera. Further, you will find the path GR 11, crossing the Pyrenees by Spanish side. Descent to Llança . Night at hotel (10 km, 4h00, +455 m).

Day 5 Walking from Llança to Port de la Selva. Climbing to the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes. At 480 m hight, you will find the most spectacular panorama of your trip.
The monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes is a monumental building where dominates the Lombard Roman of the 11th century whitch decoration betray Carolingian and Arabic influences. It was occupied by the Benedictine order. Descent to Port de la Selva. Night at hotel. (15 km, 5h00, +607 m).

Day 6 (2 routes) Walking from Port de la Selva to Cadaques by a wild route, crossing of the nature park, you will reach the Cap de Creus. Magical place witch gives rise to the Mediterranean Pyrenees.
Windswept “Tramontana”, the Cap de Creus offers a moon landscape in which the sea is intertwined by her confused and ripped creeks as the spectacular “Cova de l’Infern.”
By a picturesque trail lined with centuries-old dry stone walls, you’ll arrive in Port Lligat. Passage near the house of Salvador Dali and descent to Cadaqués, famous for the Grand Master. Night at hotel (23,5 km, 6h30, + 773 m).

Or by the GR92, you’ll cut throught the Creus Cap, summit passages dominating the bay (12 km, 4h30, + 326 m).

Day 7 Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by minibus to Collioure at 09:30.

Level:
Sport level between 5-7 hours of walking each day with elevation gain from 100 to 1500 m maximum.

Accommodation:
In hotel **, Refuges et Accomodation center, (5 nights – double room and 2  night in a dormitory of 8 people in refuges)

Meals:
Half board (breakfast and dinner) on the hotel and accommodation center and  full board for 2 days (breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner) on the refuges.

Personal equipment (to provide) :
Mountain shoes, change of shoes, warm an drain clothes, cap and hat, toiletries, cereal bars …

Luggage Transportation :
Luggage transportation during the tour, from hotel to hotel and refuges (1 luggage per person). You will carry only your things for the day.

Transport :
Day 1 transportation from Ceret to Prats de Mollo la Preste.
2 transfers during the trip : Day 1 from Collioure to Racou beach in Argelès sur Mer (hiking departure), Day 7 from Cadaquès to Collioure.

Roadbook provision with 1 map / day (traced path with markers), compass and town informations.

So that this trip is elaborated, the minimum number of participants is at least 5 persons.

Insurance (optional):
This contract is underwritten by the company Europ’Assistance. This insurance includes reimbursement of the order, after deduction of a 50 euros deductible, registration fee and the cost of insurance.
In the case of a cancellation, you must inform us in writing as soon as possible, so as not to let it run cancellation penalties. Events guaranteed in case of cancellation: accident, disease or death of the insured or his spouse, ascendants and descendants, extensive property damages caused by fire or natural elements reaching the insurant in his personal properties and requiring his presence , redundancy of the insured, inescapable modification of leave by the employer and unemployed finding work. Gps :
We provide you freely a GPS with data path, waypoints locating hotels and point of interest. To take advantage of this offer, a deposit of 200 € will be requested and a lease contract will be signed between the two parties. The deposit will be returned at the end of the tour at the return of the equipment. Do not forget to make your request for provision of GPS when booking.

Booking & payment :

You also have the option to contact us using the registration form by clicking on the Contact tab, be sure to complete all fields. We will require a first payment of 30% on booking and the balance 1 month before your departure date.

Stay cancellation :
In case of cancellation by you, a cancellation fee will be retained by Inextremis Aventura.
You have a right of withdrawal of 7 days following the date of booking your trip in a time of 30 days before the day of activity.

A more than 29 days before departure: 10% package per person for administrative costs
Between 29 and 21 days: 25% of the total
Between 20 and 8 days: 50% of the total
Between 7 and 2 days: 75% of the total
Within 2 days: 100% of the total
